Craig Davis was the man with the smile after being the first local Super Sedan (SS/AA) vehicle to run a six second pass at Hidden Valley Drag Strip during the Dash 4 Cash event.

Davis previously held the track record of 7.07 seconds at 192.19mph, which he set in 2011, but he smashed that on Saturday night with a 6.952 at 198.12mph and 6.982 at 197.45mph.

Davis not only reset his own personal best, plus the track record, but he also took out the win in the Outlaw class against the supercharged A&M Cranes Altered of Adam Murrihy who also ran his first 200mph pass with a 6.845 at 204mph in the finals.

“I really must thank my wife” Davis said with a grin on his face during his trophy acceptance speech.

HVDRA President Jay Jukes was also excited by the new record.

“It couldn’t have happened to a nicer racer. Craig has just finished helping us upgrade our braking area lighting and we joked that now he can see where he is going he’s not scared to go faster.”

It was an all rookie final in the Street Bike class with Jack Kypreos taking out a holeshot victory with a better reaction off the lights against Julian McGow.

The local Beat the Heat team also made it into the finals of Street Car and Super Street but failed to get the win in either bracket. Brett Francis red lit in The Heat, handing the Super Street win to Brett Francis with an 11.125 second pass on an 11.10 dialin.

Bob Czerniawski, who is no stranger to the podium, took out the Street Car win with a 13.481 pass on a 13.45 dialin.

In other brackets Daniel Foreman defeated Tony Kantros in Super Sedan while Brad Hagen took his first ever career win in Top Sportsman against Allan Arthus.

Darcy Muller was too good for Maddison Sperrer in the Toyworld Junior Dragster bracket and Colin Sainsbury completed a solo final in Modified Bike after Clive Mainland failed to accept the tree.

Racing returns to Hidden Valley Drag Strip on the 16-17 May as part of the 2014 NT Titles Presented by 7mate.
