Illness has side-lined reigning Australian Funny Car champion Justin Walshe for this weekend’s Riverbend Nationals, but the Harts Paint Supplies team isn’t backing down, stepping in for the event is none other than Tommy Johnson Jr.
The last time the NHRA star raced in the NDRC, he faced off against Walshe in the finals back in Sydney. Now, he’s jumping into the Harts Dodge Charger to keep the championship fight alive.
“I’m gutted I can’t be there this weekend—it was one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make,” Walshe shared. “But my health, my team, and everyone involved come first. I can’t thank my crew and Tommy enough for carrying the Harts flag this weekend. I’ll be back in Sydney in May!”
