World-renowned DJ and passionate motorsport enthusiast Carl Cox will race at The Dragway at The Bend this weekend for his global racing outfit Carl Cox Motorsport.

Cox’s official entry comes as a huge addition for fans attending the April 5-7 Riverbend Nationals with the Carl Cox Motorsport Ford Capri to be in action across Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event in the Top Sportsman category.

Although Cox’s day job as a DJ takes him all around the world, he has been based in Australia since the early 2000s and has found a window in his schedule to come and compete in front of South Australian fans for the first time at the Dragway at The Bend.

Carl Cox made the announcement to fans via a video on The Bend’s social media:

“I’ll be bringing down my Capri twin turbo to The Bend for the first time and my class is going to be Top Sportsman so look out for car number 6209,” announced Cox.

“We’re really looking to run some good numbers down there and be competitive, but it looks like we’re going to have a lot of fun. So I’m going to be down there, Come and join us, Carl Cox Motorsports/Carl Cox Drag Racing.

“We’re going to be down and representing Top Sportsman and We’re going to have a lot of fun”

Cox is the latest addition of stars to the major event after it was last week announced that the Port Adelaide Football Club’s Charlie Dixon & Lachie Jones will compete in an exhibition grudge race on Sunday afternoon.

Alistair MacDonald the CEO of the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at The Bend is excited to welcome Carl Cox throughout the event.

“After hosting Global F1 commentator “Crofty’ here at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park last week it’s fantastic to have another well-known motorsport identity in Carl Cox enjoying The Bend,” said MacDonald.

“Carl is another huge addition to the event for the fans and to have him actually competing here with his team is great for South Australia.”

The April Riverbend Nationals will be hosted over the AFL Gather Round weekend and will feature the return of the kings of drag racing ‘Top Fuel’ as well as the NDRC Western Conference final for the Aeroflow Sportsman Series. The opening day of the October Top Fuel ‘Spring Nationals’ event was hosted in front of a sold-out crowd of over 22,000 people and next weekend’s event promises to deliver another huge crowd.

Tickets for The Riverbend Nationals start from $30 for adults with FREE entry for Kids 15/U and are on sale via now. The event is proudly supported by the South Australian Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission.
