Dragnews Australia is pleased to announce the winners of its inaugural Track Snaps photo competition “the best of 2012”.
Drag racing is sport that can on truly be experienced at the track. The look, the feel, the sound and the anticipation is a total package that anyone who has attended a drag race can attest to. Our Photographers that entered our Track Snaps comp have truly captured some memorable moments of the great racing of 2012.
Dragnews photographer Hayley Turns has taken out the professional section of the competition with her snap of Steven Greentree’s undertaker melt down (Feature picture).
Mal Burgess had enough votes to garner second spot with his shot of a Modified racer Wade Moran’s wheel standing effort. Grant Stephens took out third with his catch of the spectacular engine explosion of Stuart Bishop’s doorslammer.
In the Amateur section Blake Watson’s shot of Stuey Bishop on two wheels gets extra kudos as it was snapped right in front of the DNA sign at Willowbank Raceway. Well done Blake.
Not satisfied with first, Blake also took out second too with his shot of an out of shape Kirsten Canulli in her Pro Stocker.
Ralph Smith took at the final prize for his shot of the Chemical Warfare Funny Car. Well done mate.
Hayley now has the prestigious title of DNA Photographer of the year and will be rewarded with a $225 voucher and a Plaque for her 2012 win.
Mal gets a T Shirt signed by Lee Beard and Larry Dixon and Grant receives a cap also signed by Beard and Dixon.
Blake as our Amateur Champ will receive a $125 voucher and T shirt whilst Ralph gets a cap.
Despite some disappointing entry numbers and only a reasonable voting response, DNA is determined to build this competition in terms of entries and prizes. So keep snapping and get ready for next year’s Track Snaps competition.
Thanks to all of you who entered and voted.
