Weather did its best to derail the final round of the ANDRA Pro Series for the season at the Castrol EDGE Winternationals but Queensland local Shane Tucker and his team did a great job to get the Monster Energy-powered Monaro amongst the action in a crazy weekend of racing.
The rain-affected qualifying session saw Tucker in the number 12 spot, which meant a first round match up with ‘pole sitter’, Lee Bektash.
With Tucker having one of the best average reaction times in the business, Bektash left a little too early and Tucker used a 0.14-second reaction time to take him through to the next round.
Bill Perdikaris was Tucker’s opponent for the quarter finals and it took a near perfect reaction for the New South Welshman to get past Tucker’s impressive 7.15 at 191.35 performance.
Perdikaris was heading to the final until the event was cut short due to rain.
Although the results are still being adjudicated by ANDRA, due to the event being rained out, Tucker is guaranteed a top six finish in the standings.
After the exit Tucker surmised, “All things considered, we are very happy with the weekend.
“For our team it’s about next season and we are happy with our program. We can take what we’ve learned and apply it to the new Pontiac GXP we will be testing before the ANDRA Pro Series 2011/2012 season opening at Sydney Dragway September 9-11 in Sydney.
“Pro Stock is all about refinement and we are very close to where we want to be. We have a list of great sponsors and a first class team giving us the best possible opportunity to win,” explained the second generation Pro Stock star.
“We’ve had a tough season so we will be looking forward to some time off before heading to the Monster Energy / Ken Block Gymkhana event Saturday September 3rd at Calder Park, I’m keen to see if Ken can wheel a Pro Stock car as well as his Monster Energy / Ford Focus,” smiled the 26 year old.
