Four-time Australian Top Fuel Champion Darren Morgan has ended January on a high, standing in the winner’s circle two weekends in a row.

Following taking home the win at Santo’s Summer Thunder in Sydney the weekend prior, DMR were once again in the final receiving the runners-up trophy at the Australian Nationals at Calder Park.

Morgan was excited to return to Calder Park after last competing at the track in 2013.

“It was great to compete on Victorian soil, we were happy to put on an awesome show for our Victorian fans,” Morgan said.

Morgan was joined by three Rapisarda Autosport International Top Fuel dragsters, piloted by Wayne Newby, Damien Harris and USA driver Dom Lagana.

Qualifying was held on the Saturday with Morgan placing third with a 4.18 second run over 1000ft.

Racing took place on Sunday with Morgan taking on current Australian Top Fuel Champion Damien Harris in first round.

Morgan advanced to the final winning by a holeshot, after running 4.19 seconds and leaving the line with a .099 reaction against Harris’ 4.18ET with a .117 reaction.

Morgan faced USA driver Dom Lagana in the A final. Lagana took the win with a 4.084 second run against a 4.24 second run at 275mph, giving Morgan runners up and placing him currently second in the 2017 ANDRA Top Fuel Championship.

“It was awesome to end the month with two back to back finals and my team and car performing flawlessly,” Morgan said.

“It was great racing all weekend with multiple side-by-side passes for an exceptional crowd.”

The AEG Powertools Top Fuel dragster has been on the road since the beginning of January, competing in Queensland, Sydney and Melbourne.

Morgan has also excited fans across Australia with multiple Bunnings events taking place along the way.
