Kylie and Gary Tanner have provided an update through ANDRA on Gary’s health following a horrific motor vehicle accident 9 weeks ago travelling home from Steel City Raceway.
Kylie is safely home and recuperating from her broken collarbone for which she has been undergoing physiotherapy.
Gary’s injuries were far more extensive, amongst the more serious of his injuries Gary received:
A broken neck in two places
A broken leg
Broken ribs
Fluid on his lungs
Spinal cord bruising
We have great news that last week Gary stood up for the first time since the accident and is able to support his own weight. Gary remains in hospital undergoing rehabilitation from his injuries, while awaiting a bed to open in a specialist rehabilitation facility.
There is a still a long road ahead in Gary’s recovery, but Gary maintains a positive attitude and is working with physiotherapists and doctors every day to get back on track.
“We would like to thank everyone from the drag racing community for their messages and support over the last 9 weeks this support has been overwhelming to us.” Kylie expressed when she dropped by the ANDRA office.
Gary maintains his passion for ANDRA Drag Racing and is planning the race car repairs and replacement of the transporter so that Kylie and Gary can continue to be part of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.
Drag News Magazine staff continue to send their best wishes to the Tanner family as the rehabilitation continues.
