Jim Read Racing and Valvoline are pleased to announce not only the continuation of their partnership into the new 2022/2023 Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship season, but also a significant increase in Valvoline’s support of the team.

Trusted for over 150 years, Valvoline is a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality automotive engine oil, additives and lubricants.

Valvoline’s range of lubricants have been tested in the harsh conditions of Top Fuel drag racing for decades. Jim Read Racing first partnered with the company 46 years ago, with team patriarch Jim Read carrying the Valvoline name on his championship-winning, nitro-fuelled dragsters.

In 2021 the company became an associate partner, raising its support of the team and its Top Fuel Dragster – driven by Phil Read – ahead of the introduction of the new-look Australian Top Fuel Championship which debuted in 2022.

Now, pleased with the success of the revamped championship and also with how Jim Read Racing conducted itself within the new series despite some sizeable challenges, Valvoline says it is pleased to once again significantly increase its investment in the team as it looks to add to its championship tally in 2023.

“Valvoline’s history with Jim Read Racing is long for a reason – we greatly enjoy working with the team and their commitment and dedication to their racing and their support of us is unquestionable,” Valvoline Sales and Marketing Director Geoff Newson, said.

“The tests for our products don’t come much more intense than Top Fuel racing – with more than 10,000 horsepower and accelerating to 520 kilometres per hour in less than four seconds, these dragsters demand the absolute best, and we are pleased to provide it.

“We look forward to working with Jim Read Racing again into the new season and to hopefully being a part of championship celebrations in 2023.”

Jim Read Racing got off to a winning start last season with victory at the opening round, and is hoping for a repeat performance at the fast-approaching 2022/2023 season opener at Alice Springs Inland Dragway across September 1-2.

“As we face down a new season, everyone at Jim Read Racing is thrilled to be once again working with Valvoline as we chase the title,” Phil Read said.

“Our Hydraulink Top Fuel Dragster needs the best quality lubricants to achieve its peak performance and Valvoline supplies the high-quality products it needs to withstand and thrive in the extreme conditions we put it through.

“Top Fuel Dragsters are the ultimate test bed for oils and lubricants, and we are pleased to report that Valvoline excels each and every time – we can’t wait to see what the next season brings as we continue to work together and hopefully, bring home the 2022/2023 Top Fuel title!”
