Team Bray Racing’s Victor Bray has enjoyed the honour of completing the very first solo burnout on the new burnout pad of Australia’s largest modified car festival – Summernats.
The annual Summernats festival is Australia’s largest celebration of the modified car lifestyle and
each year attracts up to 100,000 fans across it’s four days.
His performance on the pad came just after the world’s largest simultaneous stationary
burnout that is now confirmed Guinness World Record success.
To complete the record, 69 entrants completed simultaneous and non-interrupted 30 second burnouts on the new pad to create a mighty smoke cloud seen across Canberra to the delight of event attendees, all in support of the Australian Government’s national anti-smoking campaign.
“What a day Friday was – to have the honour of being selected to make the very first solo burnout on the new surface here at Summernats and on top of witnessing the successful Guinness World Record attempt was just brilliant,” said Victor Bray.
“You certainly don’t see something like that every day, and in typical Summernats style we not only met the required amount, we smashed it by an additional 19 cars!”
Team Bray Racing has brought a range of cars to Summernats including Victor’s’57 Chevy Burnout Car and a range of rare road cars including a hand-built ‘bubble car’, Victor’s well-known TUF ’58 Low Rider, Michael ‘Gup’ Gilbert’s 727CI big block-powered street Commodore and friends of Team Bray, Lyndon & Kelly Stephenson’s Rat Rod which has been awarded the 2013 Summernats “Paul Bennetts Personal Pick”
As part of Sidchrome’s Performance Park, the Team Bray Racing compound has been attracting plenty of attention across the event, as have Sidchrome’s new commemorative Victor and Ben Bray tool kits which were launched this weekend.
“We have been really pleased to see the fans getting behind the tool kits, there have been plenty
walking out of here with new owners so far this weekend!” said Ben Bray.
The 26th annual Summernats officially kicked off on Thursday with a 200 car strong Shannons
Citycruise through the heart of Canberra in front of more than 30,000 spectators lining the streets with both father and son taking part.
“The Shannons Citycruise was great fun – it is a fantastic way to kick off an event such as this and to bring what we love to the general public,” said Ben Bray.
“The crowds here so far have been really impressive, and everyone from the team has been enjoying the chance to soak up the atmosphere, meet up with old friends and chat to the fans.”
The 26th annual Summernats will continue today and tomorrow (Sunday 6 January 2013)
