Delivered by Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV), the Community Motorsport Program is the Victorian Government’s first dedicated motorsport investment program.

The Community Motorsport Program is part of the Government’s $7.4m ‘Racing Into a New Era for Motorsport’ initiative and is dedicated to addressing gaps in motorsport infrastructure and equipment, training volunteers and officials, supporting young motorsport participants and enabling more women and girls to get involved in the sport.

Participation in the program is limited to applications from motorsport clubs and organisations that are currently affiliated with Motorsport Australia or Motorcycling Victoria or its delegated bodies, such as the Australian National Drag Racing Association.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Equipment – funding to purchase critical facility equipment (up to $50,000); and deliver minor (up to $100,000) and major infrastructure developments (up to $500,000).

Projects supported through the program include, but are not limited to:

The purchase of safety and operational equipment essential for the participation in motorsport.

Education and training opportunities of participants, volunteers, officials, and administrators to safely participate in and conduct motorsport activities.

Facilitating increased engagement and participation opportunities for juniors, women and girls and other under-represented groups as outlined in Active Victoria – A strategic framework for sport and recreation in Victoria 2017-21.

Increasing opportunities for clubs to host events, programs and activities.

Improving safety standards of club facilities in Victoria.

New or upgrading of motorsport racing infrastructure, facilities, and equipment.

Improving environmental sustainability through infrastructure upgrades and development.

Motorsport in Victoria supports more than 4,000 jobs and contributes almost $700 million annually to the Victorian economy.

“ANDRA has been meeting with Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) over the last month, working with them to ensure our Victorian member clubs and tracks can be well represented as part of this great new funding program,” ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Brett Stevens, said.

“It is our understanding that this is the first funded community motorsport program in the country, and ANDRA is very excited for our member tracks and clubs to be a part of it.

“We are ready to assist any club in their grant applications and will also be continuing to advocate to the Victorian Government on behalf of our Victorian members.

“It has been a tough year for everyone, but especially for those in Victoria, and we hope this announcement brings some much-needed good news for our Victorian member clubs and tracks.”

Minister Spence’s office states that these grants demonstrate the Victorian Government’s commitment to health and wellbeing, economic resilience and diversity, and boosting the capacity of communities to attract and host local and regional competitions and events.

“Motorsport and motorcycling clubs are a safe space where people can compete and learn – this funding will help pave the way for the next generation of women and girls in motorsport, from grassroots to the professional level,” Minister Spence said.

The Community Motorsport Program is one of a number of Government infrastructure programs, also including the Community Cricket Program, World Game Facilities Fund and Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme, investing millions of dollars into community sport and recreation infrastructure across the state.
