Nathan Farrugia snapped up bragging rights of Australia’s quickest radial car over the quarter mile last weekend with a 6.55 at 215mph blast at Sydney Dragway.
With radial racing predominately run over the half track distance, we don’t often see heavy hitters in the class stretch their legs over the full quarter mile track distance. However Nathan Farrugia ‘sent it’ last weekend at a private test day at Sydney Dragway and clocked the quickest E.T in Australia over quarter from his big block twin turbo RX3. It was also the quickest pass by an RX3 in anywhere in the world.
And while the RX3 might not yet quite match it with some of the pro mod eighth mile radial monsters, it is one impressive performance from such a short 93in wheel base machine to work this well on radials.
The day ended abruptly however with a pilot chute failure leaving the RX3 to surf the beach at Sydney Dragway, and the car tuner Dale Heiler saying – amongst some amusing memes – the car’s quarter mile days are done and they will concentrate on the Kenda 660 Series which kicks off with Radial Riot in Sydney late February.
