Rod Harvey is not the only record smashing Kiwi on Australian shores after Barry Plumpton annihilated Australian nitrous records at the Gulf Western Oil Mega Race.
A surprise entrant, the multi-time New Zealand Top Doorslammer champion hauled his Jerry Bickel built 959ci nitrous snorting Camaro monster across the ditch to take on a number of events in Pro Extreme.
First stop was the Gulf Western Mega Oil event, where he stunned everyone with a personal best 6.04 at 238mph – just his third full pass out of the container.
Unfortunately a battle with tyre shake meant we did not see a five second pass yet, but Plumpton is not done, and we will see his “Bullet” Camaro again on track here including shooting for the big cash at the $50K Grudge Kings event later in the year.
