The “Mad Professor” Rob Taylor suffered a major accident at Calder Park yesterday during the Melbourne Jamboree when his Camaro Top Doorslammer lost traction and collided with both concrete walls.
Taylor was held overnight for observation at hospital and we will provide an update on his condition when news comes to hand, but he appears to be in as good spirits as can be expected with crew chief Anthony Rodriques posting the following image on social media to alleviate any concerns.
“Thanks for all the concern and well wishes, and the Mad Professor also said he is very lucky he has a faster car coming Wednesday,” said Rodriques via Facebook.
Taylor was racing Frank Cannistra in Extreme Pro Mod vs Factory Xtreme over the 1000ft distance when the Camaro struck tyre shake problems on the hit sending Taylor towards the centre line, after a couple of pedals the car turned hard left into the wall before crossing the track hitting the opposite wall even harder.
Drag News Magazine wishes Rob Taylor all the best and a quick recovery.
