The highly anticipated debut of Johnny Ricca’s world record holding Pro Mod Camaro on Aussie soil didn’t disappoint, smashing the quickest ET ever seen out of a door car in Australia during testing at Sydney Dragway.

The RPM (Race Parts Melbourne) team broke hearts in the US on both radials and the big tyre. First, going to the final in Radial Vs The World at Lights Out 16, then flipping the script on the slicks breaking the world record for a screw blown doorslammer with a 5.37 at 271 mph, and qualifying 20th in an 80 car field at World Series of Pro Mod, before reaching the the second round of eliminations.

Now back in Australia, the team wasted no time heading straight to Sydney Dragway this week for some testing ahead of the Camaro’s competition debut in Pro Mod at the Brisbane Jamboree in August. Off the trailer a early shut off yielded a 5.74 at 200mph before they let the Camaro eat, blowing away the outright doorslammer record with a 5.464, and setting a new supercharged speed record at 270.54MPH.

Returning for the second day of testing the team focused on reeling in the big speeds to meet IHRA’s 260MPH limit for doorslammers and carded a 5.49 at 264MPH and a 5.58 at just 209MPH.

One month to Jamboree, Pro Mod will be insane.
