Wade Wagstaff has continued to lay down the most impressive runs ever seen in Australian radial drag racing, setting a new record and taking out the Kenda Outlaw Radial Friday $5k.

Wagstaff took on and defeated Craig Hewitt final round of the $5k-to-win, which was a prelude to the Kenda Tires Radial Riot today. After setting a new record yesterday with a 3.946, Wagstaff attacked the track on every pass, first improving to a 3.900, then a 3.881, before an impressive semi final, where he was unstoppable with a blazing 3.859 at 196mph, defeating Terry Seng’s red lighting 3.965/199.58mph, driving Kyle Hopf’s Camaro, in what was the first side-by-side three second radial race in Australian history.

While he had to settle for an early exit, Hopf’s speed put him within a whisker of being the first radial racer in Australia to top 200mph.

It was a big prizemoney night at Willowbank Raceway, with the Kenda boys also putting up $5k prizes for Outlaw 275 and Outlaw 235.

Steve Bezzina took the money in Outlaw 275 in his big Falcon, while Michael Della took out Outlaw 235 in his diminuitive Datsun ute.

In testing, Ben Bray became the next Australian racer to go into the threes on radials, with a 3.999 clocking from the Century Batteries Corvette, which is more accustomed to duties in Pro Slammer.
