The wildest nitro show on earth meets Australia’s favourite horsepower party! Round five of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship slams into the Summernats festival vibe when fire breathing monsters meet the smoke storm tornado of burnout mayhem at Heathcote Park Raceway May 21-22.
Top Fuel headlines the massive drag racing line up that also includes Top Bike, Pro Mod, Pro Stock and Sportsman categories. Joining the on-track action is a huge burnout competition with Summernats Burnout Masters qualifying tickets up for grabs. This massive weekend includes a show and shine, live music, fireworks spectacular, camping and more.
“Most car enthusiasts know what Summernats and Top Fuel racing is all about, but this is the first time we’ve combined the madness of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and the Summernats Burnout Masters. This event will be something else!” Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez.
Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship points leader and driver of the Fuchs Lubricants dragster Phil Lamattina said he was excited at the opportunity to race his 10,000hp nitro machine at Heathcote Park Raceway.
“Coming off the back of a dream run at Mildura – me winning the event and my teammate Shane taking bonus points in the series – gives us a big confidence boost for the rest of 2022. My crew are looking forward to our first opportunity to race at Heathcote Park over the full 1000ft distance. Having this round as part of the Summernats Slam event means it’ll be non-stop action on both days. Victorian petrolheads won’t want to miss this one.”
The drag racing competition will also feature action from Top Bike, Pro Mod, Pro Stock, and a huge field of Sportsman racers. The Burnout Masters qualifying field is already hot with cult hero Andrew Lynch heading to Heathcote for the inaugural Victorian Slam.
“I’ve travelled all over the country to compete in burnout competitions, but when the Summernats party comes to your home state, if you’re a car fan, you’ve just gotta be there.”
In a year that has seen the venue go from strength to strength, Heathcote Park Raceway’s Lance Warren made it clear that the facility will be at its racing best come Summernats Slam.
“We’ve been working hard to deliver a better experience for everyone who comes to the venue with numerous improvements and upgrades already completed. We’re also resurfacing the track from the transition after our Easter event to make sure we’re ready for when the Top Fuel teams arrive at Slam.”
