Derek Johnson walked away from this hellacious crash at the Sydney Jamboree last weekend.
Johnson driving his 1JZ powered Holden ute was clocking low eight second times in the Pro Turbo class before disaster struck.
Johnson’s ute appeared to break traction approaching the finish line sending the car hard into the left hand concrete wall, catapulting the ute into the air and all but rolled over. Fortunately though for Rod Penrose in the other lane, all this happened behind him.
Sydney Dragway’s emergency crew were on the scene in a matter of seconds as always and from reports Johnson escaped relatively unharmed.
