WILLOWBANK RACEWAY STATEMENT ON WINTERNATIONALS AND TRACK UPGRADES

Willowbank has issued the following statement regarding the future of this year’s Winternationals and the finishing off of track upgrades.

Statement reads:

There is a lot of disinformation circling around drag racing currently, with some outlandish claims being made about the track at Willowbank Raceway, the upgrade and also the running of the annual Gulf Western Oil Pty Ltd Winternationals.

We have never wavered from our position that 2024 Gulf Western Oil Winternationals will go ahead, and nothing has changed on that front.

Additionally, we have said that we have been working towards an outcome to overcome some of the irregularities in the new concrete works from 200 to 450 meters, and this also has not changed.

To that end we can now confirm that noted USA track specialist Kurt Johnson from Total Venue Concepts, a leading expert in the area of designing and preparing drag racing surfaces, will be on site from the 6th of May to oversee the grinding works. Kurt has been enlisted to ensure that we have the best possible racing surface, and use world’s best practices and technology for competitors and fans alike for our first major event since the upgrade, the 56th Gulf Western Oil Winternationals.

With nearly all of our corporate hospitality sold out, and a significant number of pre-sales on spectator ticketing, we would encourage everybody to get in sooner rather than later to secure your seat for what will be an outstanding event.
