One week to go until 2011 Castrol EDGE Winternationals (Friday June 10 – Monday June 13)

This Saturday and Sunday June 4 and 5 will provide the perfect early form guide for the 2011 Castrol EDGE Winternationals as entrants take the opportunity to test their high powered machines at the official Winters Warm-up weekend ahead of the June 10-13 event at Willowbank Raceway.

The Castrol EDGE Winternationals is an entertainment extravaganza held annually across the Queen’s Birthday weekend and is expected to provide an economic injection of millions of dollars into the South East Queensland region.

Traditionally the ‘warm-up’ has been held on the Sunday immediately preceding the event, however in 2011 it moves to an exciting two-day format, allowing fans two full days to get a sneak peak of the action before the racers battle it out during the largest drag racing event outside of the US. Adults can attend each day for just $20 with students with ID gaining discounted entry and children 13 and under free – visit www.willowbankraceway.com.au for full entry details.

Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said he expected to see some big numbers run by the ANDRA Pro Series competitors over the two days as they look to milk every last inch of speed and power from their racing machines.

“The Castrol EDGE Winternational is the biggest event of the year, and whether racers are fighting for championships or not, fans are guaranteed edge-of-your-seat, emotion-charged racing as everyone tries their best to secure a prestigious Gold Christmas Tree trophy,” said Bettes.

“We will be hosting more than 500 racers at the track here over Friday June 10-13, with more than 150 taking the opportunity to test this weekend.

“With so many racers on track, I really encourage the fans to come along and take in all the action, and get a early taste of what will be frenetic racing action come Friday the 10th of June all the way through to Monday June 13.”

Testing action at the Winters Warm-up will get underway from 10.00am on Saturday the 4th of June until 7.00pm, before starting up again from 8.00am to 4.00pm on Sunday the 5th of June. Adult entry is $20 per day, students with ID gain discounted entry at $18 per day and children 13 and under have free entry. For more information please visit www.willowbankraceway.com.au
