Darren Morgan Racing are back in Perth this weekend to compete at the Nitro Max event at the Perth Motorplex. Morgan is currently leading the 400 Thunder Series by 21 points after the second round on February 19 and 20.

The West Coast Nitro event saw DMR top qualify with a 4.74 and run low ET in both qualifier one and two.

The car ran consistent all weekend with the first qualifier a 4.78, qualifier two a 4.74 and the semi finals a 4.74.

DMR was knocked out in the semi-finals by WA local Mark Sheehan who went on to win the event, Sheehan ran a 4.59 against Morgan’s 4.74.

“We had a fast and consistent race car at West Coast Nitro, but if Mark is going to do runs like that we are going to need to step up our performance,” Morgan said.

Major sponsor AEG Powertools had a hands on display where fans could try out their tools as well as merchandise and product giveaways.

“It’s great to see our fans interacting with AEG Powertools staff and products,” Morgan said.

In the lead up to this weekends event, AEG Powertools are running a Facebook promotion where five lucky people can win a Gold Double Seat pass for Saturday’s Nitro Max.

Winners will be announced Friday afternoon.

Alongside Morgan this weekend will be returning drivers Mark Sheehan, Damien Harris and Wayne Newby who will all be racing for a pair of gold Christmas tree trophies.

The Nitro Max event features both rounds three and four of the 400 Thunder Series and will take place over Saturday and Sunday of WA’s Labour Day weekend.

Each day will run in a three round format, with competitors having one qualifier before entering straight into competition.

At this event in 2014, DMR was runner up the first night and winner the second, the team will be looking for the double up this time.

“This is always a great event over the Labour Day long weekend and we are looking forward to putting on a great show for our Perth fans,” Morgan said.

DMR would like to thank major sponsors AEG Powertools, Shannons Insurance and Royal Asphalt as well as all their associate sponsors.

New DMR merchandise will be available to purchase at the track.
