As Australian drag racing begins to fire up once again post-pandemic, this Toyota Corona will no doubt get its fair share of jibes from track announcers and fans, but this sweet little sedan has a power to match its unfortunate namesake.
Queensland’s ET Chassis and Race Cars recently released some pics of the overhauled Corona, which owner Luke Redman brought in for a sheet metal housing for the Toyota Hilux diff, Race Products floaters, Afco shocks, Enemies Everywhere sway bar, chrome moly tube arms and some mini-tubs for good measure.
There’s a whole bunch of work in the rear end to help Redman find grip on the Mickey Thompson 255/60R15 radial tyres (and perhaps some win lights in the Kenda 660 Drag Radial Series).
Up front is a single turbo Toyota 1JZ, a straight-six 2.5 litre motor famous for being bulletproof under boost and well suited to conversions like this.
Check out more images below thanks to ET Chassis and Race Cars – that’s some neat work!
