As this national championship wrestle continues between the tracks and ANDRA, the latter has issued the following update to it’s members today via Motormail.
As most know we have a rapidly changing environment this week based on a number of releases and claims made by Willowbank Raceway, Sydney Dragway and Perth Motorplex.
We want to keep you up to date with the facts and there are a number of items we can confirm at this stage.
We have sought and will continue to seek mediation with the three tracks to resolve the current issues affecting the sport and its racers. The 3 tracks’ timing couldn’t be worse for racers and the championship given we are only a matter of weeks out from the beginning of the Championship season. It has had a massive effect on racers planning and deliberation.
The three tracks’ release issued yesterday took a number of liberties with the positions of racers, ANDRA and other track owners. More on this very soon, including responses to some very misleading statements. However it would be correct to say the drag racing world is watching and heads are shaking in disbelief at what is happening to our sport yet again.
On a more pleasant note we are about to kick off the season with rounds of Top Alcohol, Top Doorslammer at Hidden Valley and the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series round at Alice Springs. Summit has reconfirmed its commitment to ANDRA and Sportsman racers. Christmas trees will be up for grabs and valuable points in the ANDRA Championship will be awarded.
ANDRA is half way through a 3 year strategy to take the sport to a truly professional and world class status. As presented and documented a number of times, our strategy takes into account every ANDRA member and racer. It would be wrong to say we haven’t had obstacles to deal with, yet members and their passion drives ANDRA and will continue to do so into the future.
We commit to regular communications to our valued members as we work through these issues.
