Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is gearing up for an action-packed five months of Top Fuel drag racing all around the country, starting with this weekend’s double-header Australia Day Nationals at Sydney Dragway.

Across Friday January 26 and Saturday January 27, Hydraulink Jim Read Racing will be part of an eight strong Top Fuel field which will undertake no less than two back-to-back championship rounds – one each day.

From the Australia Day Nationals, the National Drag Racing Championship’s Top Fuel Championship will race every four to five weeks until June, ensuring no shortage of flame-throwing, 11,000hp, 500kph Top Fuel action over the coming months as the racers do battle for the big trophy.

From Sydney, the Top Fuel title chase will head to the Perth Motorplex (WA – March 2-3) for the Westernationals, and then Dragway at The Bend (SA – April 6-7) for The River Bend Nationals.

Australia’s quickest and fastest racers will then return to Sydney Dragway (NSW – May 4-5) for the title chase’s penultimate round, the Nitro Champs, ahead of a huge finale at Willowbank Raceway (QLD – June 6-9) at the Winternationals.

“We absolutely cannot wait to get on-track at Sydney Dragway this weekend,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver, Phil Read, said.

“It has been a bit quiet of late due to factors outside of the championship’s control, such as track upgrade delays and wet weather, but now we have a great run of events coming up that sees us racing every four to five weeks, and that bodes really well for the teams and the fans as we race all over the country.

“With eight Top Fuel dragsters lining up at Sydney Dragway this weekend, and rumours of new teams and cars on the way, it is clear just how exciting things are in this championship right now.”

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, echoed Phil Read’s comments.

“Racing regularly is a great thing as when you are hitting the track every few weeks, that really helps to build consistency and momentum,” Bruce said.

“With some great events coming up in New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Queensland, we are looking forward to hopefully picking up some NDRC event winning Christmas Tree trophies around the country.

“While things have been quiet for us on the racing front, the team has been anything but quiet, working diligently over this off-season to make sure we are ready to hit the ground running and in the best possible form – make sure you keep an eye out as we look to bring home the chocolates for our fans and our valued sponsors.

“Exciting things are ahead for Top Fuel racing in this country – great events, a great title chase, more teams and cars rumoured to be coming on-board – and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of it all.”

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is supported on track by Hydraulink, Valvoline, Snap-On, McDonalds, FXD Workwear, PremiAir Hire, Odyssey Batteries, PMP Motorsport Products, Diamond Pistons, Trend Performance Wrist Pins, Oasis Aquatics, Oasis Heat Pumps, Speed Gas, Spa Electric Pool Lighting, Pacific Pools and Comp Cams.
