Two reigning 400 Thunder champions who have thus far struggled for the season got their series defences back on track with wins at Willowbank Raceway’s New Years Thunder on Saturday night.

Ashley Sanford knocked out the quickest time for Top Fuel in pre-event testing for New Years Thunder at Willowbank Raceway, while John Zappia set a hot pace in the Pro Slammers.

Willowbank Raceway’s inaugural Dash 4 Cash event saw incredibly close racing despite stifling forty-degree heat stressing drivers, riders and crews to the limit. The difficult conditions were no match for the lure of $7,500 in cash and prizes spread across the Car, Gasoline Alley Harley Davidson Bikes and SCG Racing Parts Junior Dragster as some of the best DYO racers in the land chased the big payouts.

On a big weekend of sportsman racing with both ANDRA Summit Sportsman Series and 400 Thunder Sportsman Series rounds being run on opposing sides of the country, the East Coast saw the 400 Thunder Sportsman Series cranked up at Willowbank Raceway in association with a Jet Car feature. 

One-day race events are always action-packed from start to finish and the 2018 Goldenstates at the Perth Motorplex was no exception.
