Wayne Newby’s U.S. Nationals campaign ended with a first round loss to Leah Pritchett when the RAI car smoked the tyres at the hit, handing Pritchett the easiest of wins.

Wayne Newby has qualified 15th and will face off against Leah Pritchett, one of the brightest emerging talents on the NHRA tour, in the opening round of the 63rd annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals on Tuesday morning, Australian time.

Rapisarda Autosport International occupies 10th spot after Wayne Newby ran 3.80/321.88 mph in the first of five rounds of qualifying for the 63rd annual Chevrolet Performance NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway Indianapolis.

He will begin his tenure for Kalitta Motorsports at the historic U.S. Nationals and will remain in the seat for the balance of the 2017 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season.
In the early years of drag racing, it was common to see car clubs and mates get together and pool their resources to go racing. Times may have changed today, however for Queensland mates Savos Pandelakis and Shane Turley, they have partnered up to go racing just like the pioneers did in the 1960’s.

One of the most prized trophies in Australian championship drag racing has always been the ANDRA Christmas Tree trophy. Sometimes referred to as the holy grail, its the one everyone wants to show off to family and friends.
