Stemming from the popular American outlaw grudge racing scene, Willowbank Raceway with Powercruise Promoter Michael ‘Gup’ Gilbert have envisaged a similar version in Australia – Lights Out grudge racing.

As this national championship wrestle continues between the tracks and ANDRA, the latter has issued the following update to it’s members today via Motormail.

The now four track break-away National Championship plans have been announced jointly – here is the release.

Paul Mouhayet put on the big shoes last weekend at Willowbank Raceway and proceeded to stomp the record for the quickest turbo powered pass in Australia – 5.930 at 252mph.

Their first event of the new season may still be two weeks away, but the O’Rourke Motorsport transporter, race vehicles and team patriarch Grant O’Rourke have already arrived in the area ready to do their part to promote their sport ahead of the 17-18 July event.

A question and answer session with Tony Wedlock has been released addressing some of the matters relating to the break-away National Championship.

A joint press release from Sydney Dragway, Willowbank Raceway and Perth Motorplex has been issued detailing a new National Championship between the three. There are few details on how the break away competition will be achieved at this point and if it will be supported by racers, but now we are faced with a major split in the sport.
