Rapisarda Racing’s  finest weekend on the NHRA Full Throttle series came to a premature end when Cory McClenathan smoked the tyres in round one of eliminations against Texan Steve Torrence.

A personal best of 3.85/311 mph for Rapisarda Racing has catapulted the Oz team into 12th spot spot at the end of qualifying for the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Chicago.

Rapisarda Racing have clocked their finest qualifying performance since joining the NHRA Full Throttle Series in 2010.  A superb pass of 3.86/490 km/h. clinched the Oz outfit tenth spot and with two qualifying sessions remaining has all but guaranteed the team a start on race day.

SANTO RAPISARDA Racing will make their first appearance at historic Route 66 Speedway Chicago in round 11 of the NHRA Full Throttle championship this weekend.

On Thursday night the BDRA held a meeting at the Bairnsdale RSL to outline its recovery and development strategy for the recently vandalised Bairnsdale drag strip. Local drag racers from Bairnsdale and also from as far away as Canberra and Sydney attended to ask questions about BDRA plans for the future of the facility. Police and council representatives also attended.
