Round two of the 2026 NSW Championship Series delivered another huge night of sportsman racing with packed fields and plenty of drama across the brackets, and now attention quickly turns to round three before the series heads into a short Winter break.

Results from round two saw Britney Olive send the Gulf Western Oil dragster into the winner’s circle taking down Kurtis Read in the final 6.164 on a 6.15 in a battle of Top Fuel namesakes. The wild two-wheel Extreme Bike bracket was dominated by Ryan Franks ripping a win over Deanne Azzopardi in the final with a 7.23 202mph pass.

Who says blown cars can’t be consistent? Top Sportsman saw a pair of supercharged combinations square off in the final, with Nathan Cooper’s blown Gemini using a better reaction time to hold out Dave Whitemore’s hard-charging Nova.

Experience shone through in several categories. Veteran Alan White showed he still has the starting line mastered in Modified, cutting a razor-sharp .003 reaction time to defeat Brooke Rapisarda. Super Sedan was another case of experience prevailing, with Jim Denaro capitalising on a Paul Papacosta red light in the final. In Modified Bike, Josh Bukareshliev lit the win light against Albi Davidson.

The Super Street final turned into a ute battle, with Adam James steering the XY Falcon to victory after Henry Spicak red lit away his chances in the Holden. Joe Catanzariti added yet another event win to his resume, cutting a perfect reaction time against Luke Romeo in the final.

The next generation also put on a show. Lincoln Bonwick rode past defending track champion Adam Jordan in the Junior Drag Bike final, while young Aubree Maggs drove to victory in Junior Dragster after Jake McNamara fouled on the start line.

Christmas Tree trophies on offer, attracting several interstate racers. In the end it was local honours for Christine Hunter, who defeated Queenslander Dean Merchant in a double breakout final.

Colin Northcott rode around Paul Spance in the Street Bike final and Nicholas Vorillas had the XR6 dialled into the tree with a .004 reaction to beat Shaun Dartnell to the stripe on a holeshot.

Top Doorslammer teams were also on hand in exhibition mode, getting valuable laps ahead of the upcoming NDRC season.

Return of an iconic machine, the former C&V Performance One Tonner has been passed around to a few garages and now it’s finally back on track with the Micallef brothers.

Up, up and away. Unplanned flight for Sean Maher.
