GINA BULLIANS SIGNED OFF FOR PRO STOCK

Australia has a newly licensed female Pro Stock racer, with Gina Bullians successfully ticking off all the requirements at Sydney Dragway on May 30.

Behind the wheel of Michael Grunbaum’s Bomber Racing Pro Stock Camaro, Bullians had originally aimed to complete her licence ahead of the Nitro Champs, however suspension setup issues delayed the program. With the guidance and assistance of Peter Ridgeway, she returned to the track at a Sydney Dragway Test and Tune and successfully completed her licensing passes.

Bullians was signed off for competition with an impressive 7.09-second pass at 193mph, complete with a 1.02-second 60-foot time, officially earning her Pro Stock licence. The achievement makes her just the third female driver to compete in the Australian Pro Stock ranks and only the second Australian-licensed female driver to do so, following Kirsten Tucker.

“Still blown away to have run a 7.09 at 193mph already, 1.02 60ft and now with my licensing passes complete we can start working on the tune-up. Excited for what’s to come. Cannot thank the whole crew enough, the best vibe and such a pleasure to work with everyone involved,” said Bullians.

More accustomed to steering her six-second rotary-powered Mazda RX-8, Bullians recently completed a tour of the United States with her 20B-powered machine before returning to Australia and racing to the Factory Extreme final at Sydney Jamboree.

When a seat became available within the Bomber Racing Pro Stock operation, Bullians jumped at the opportunity to swap turbocharged rotary power for the all-motor world of Pro Stock racing. While the team won’t contest next week’s Gulf Western Oil Winternationals, the focus is now firmly on the next round of the NDRC Australian Pro Stock Championship, the Pro Stock Nationals at Willowbank Raceway in September.
