The wildest nitro show on earth – the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship – jumps to another level of extreme horsepower action as Kyle Putland Racing joins the nitro party at the Perth Motorplex Nov 11. The 48th Goldenstates sees the West Aussie join the fastest drag racing vehicles in the country with seven top fuel cars hitting the Perth track for the first time in championship history.
No stranger to drag racing and with an interest dating back to watching the action with his uncles at Ravenswood in the ‘90s before going on to racing himself at 18, Putland said he was excited to compete against the drivers and teams in the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship.
“I’m really looking forward to lining up against these guys. I’ve had the car since January 2020 as a small fuel pump and single magneto setup, but we’ve recently stepped to the full deal and now have the horsepower to have a real go at racing at the highest level. The car has everything it needs to go fast.
“Rory from Speed Torque pretty much makes this whole thing happen with his knowledge and together with my crew, he’s put together a great race car for me. I’m looking forward to putting on a show in the Worx Equipment dragster.
“We’re planning on running three events in this season of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, and we’re looking for support to help put on a show in more rounds in the future. It’s an exciting time to race a Top Fuel car!”
When it comes to rating his fledgling team’s chances, Kyle Putland isn’t lacking confidence, making it clear that he isn’t there to make up numbers.
“All of the other teams have been really good with sharing knowledge and helping to source parts, and we’re really keen to test ourselves against them on our home track. We just have to put it all together. We know we’re not going to be the fastest car there, but we hope to be the most consistent and put on a show for the crowd. And with seven Top Fuellers in one place, I reckon the buzz in the crowd will be awesome. I can’t wait!”
