Drag News Magazine Issue 27 highlights women in Australian drag racing

Drag News Magazine focuses on the women in Australian drag racing who are making an impact for its 27th issue. Our sport is one of the most diverse and we wanted to showcase that fact. Kelly Bettes takes the cover, having recently ascended to the seat of the Lamattina Top Fuel Racing dragster. There she has been on the learning curve of her life, but the former Australian Modified champion definitely has what it takes to be a future champion. In editor Luke Nieuwhof’s life, women in drag racing has been anything but unusual as he watched his mother race to state championships on drag bikes. But now it his sister who has taken over and made her mark in the sport. Bettes is not the only up and coming woman in nitro, with Emma Begley taking on the short wheelbase Funny Cars. We talk to her about the role of her father in teaching her the ins and outs of nitro and how to make progress on a timeline you set. We also speak with Jenny Petrie, Chelsea Leahy and Robyn Phillis, talk about the role of eyesight in reaction times, and cover the opening rounds of the 400 Thunder and Summit Sportsman seasons at Darwin and Alice Springs.  Single Issue (print)  Subscription (print, 12 issues) Yes, you can pay by credit card! Select the ‘Pay with Debit or Credit Card’ option on the next screen after clicking one of the Buy Now options above.
