Outlaws

Supercharged Outlaws were heading the sportsman program at the event.

Bill Waldock was very loose on his first run down the strip.

Doing away with the turbo’s Geoff Kelly now has a blower on the altered.

Neil Raymond crosses up his hot rod in the burnout.

Domenic Luppino was allowed to run with the bracket with his twin turbo Mustang, running a 4.80 @ 157 MPH best, Luppino defeated Kelly in round one.

Graham Shiells cool Mopar muscle car ran a 4.97 best claiming Raymond in round one.

Up from SA, Michael Vidau’s ute was not happy all weekend.

Sometimes AA/FC racer Gary Busch was back in DYO and scorched the outright ET track record with a 4.17 and skipped to the semi finals defeating Luppino.

Waldock sorted out the Monaro to make the final defeating Vidau and Shiell before meeting Doina Day.

Day had held the track record going into the event, she took some revenge on the new record holder defeating Busch in the semi final.  After being runner up at the last Slamfest event at Calder, Day went one better here, a 4.65 (4.60 DI) with a a tidy .025 ran down Waldock’s 5.03 (4.90 DI).

Modified

Only 6 cars made up a small Modified field.

John Voight was green with envy in his altered.

Robert Wilson had a 5.65 best from the hot rod.

One of the finest looking modified altered around is Neil Dyson’s “Outcast” ride.

Steven Purse travelled from the NSW south coast to earn a runner up finish.

South Aussie Simon Barlow took the victory in his very quick dragster, running 4.98 (4.90 DI) over Purse’s 5.78 (5.60 DI).

Super Sedan

There was loads of wheels up Super Sedan action off the tight Portland start line.

Mathew Hogan’s Gemini matches the late evening sky.

Leanne Braggs has been supporting all the Slamfest events.

Paul Keen was one finding plenty of grip off the startline.

Likewise with Tim Stone’s Torana carrying the front wheels great distances.

Super Gas stalwart Colin Griffin was uninjured when he nosed the Celica into wall after the finish line in the quarter finals.

Chris Farrell had his Gemini into the semi finals.

Where is was stopped by Stuart McBain’s 5.25 top qualifying Lumina.

It was Brett Henly’s wheelstanding Torana though to stand atop the podium, running 5.44 (5.38 DI) defeating McBain’s breaking out  5.25 (5.26).

Super Street

Andrew Fry was living up to his namesake along with trying to emulate the doorslammers with his skids.

Damien Kemp and Steve Biggs brought some nostalgia to the event with their vintage gassers and Kemp reached the semi finals.

Scott Riley was in the other semi finalist before being stopped by David Bunnik’s Torana.

Bunnik would be meeting Drew McRae’s VN in the final.

Bunnik was too eager in the final leaving -.054 cherry on tree handing victory to McRae’s Commodore.

Modified Bike

Andrew Barker was trying to tame his Honda off the line in qualifying.

We haven’t seen Tony Frost for a while who use to be a regular up and down the East Coast.

Peter Bartlett always seems to have a new paint scheme when we see him, very effective as usual and running a 5.67 @ 132 best.

Normally seen scooting down the quarter in his motorcycled powered dragster, Graham Hullah was running the more traditional two wheeled form of motorbike powered transport. Hullah nudged Bartlett out of the low ET spot with a 5.66.

Robert Cassar’s Kawaka was  a bit slower than his Top Bike we normally see him on.

Matthew Ireland was a semi finalist on his Suzuki but couldn’t overcome Gavin Dohnt.

Jamie Dohnt couldn’t make it a all Dohnt family final losing to Snag Gale in the other semi.

Gavin Dohnt went way too quick in the final running a 6.76 on a 6.82 dial in.

That left Snag Gale to ride to a easy 6.71 (6.64 DI) win.

Junior Dragster

Junior Dragster was a three way dice with the Cartledge clan of Jake and Luke against Jess Turner.

A broken chain is inspected by dad Paul which cost Jess the victory in the final.

With Turner stranded, Luke Cartledge took the victory.
