With Mount Emerald as its backdrop, Springmount Raceway in Far North Queensland felt the rumble and thunder from the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars for the first time recently at their Grand Opening event.
In front of a massive crowd in-excess of 5000 fans, the brand new picturesque facility hosted a teaser of what is to come later in the year with the appearance of Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars “Red Devil” and “Nitro Express”.
Despite gremlins in the timing system that prevented any competition brackets being run, the crowd was still treated to a spectacular drag racing exhibition throughout the day, capped off with a side by side five second nitro funny car pass.
Shane Olive and Rick Gauci blasted out near identical 5.99 second passes on the final run of the day to rapturous applause.

The Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars will return to the venue in force on August 6.
Thanks to Phil Reeve for these great snaps from the Grand Opening.
