The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) condemned the violent behaviour on the streets of Oakleigh as totally and absolutely unacceptable.
A spokesman for ANDRA also said the Victorian Government must bear some responsibility for fuelling the frustration of motor sport fans in this state.

Canningvale Service and Performance centre, Pro Auto Service and Performance have again stepped up to the plate to add some additional interest in what is already shaping up to be an enthralling night of Top Doorslammer qualifying this Saturday night.

Perth-based Chartered Accountant, Robin Judd, has edged closer to winning the 2009/2010 Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) Pro Series Top Doorslammer Championship despite last weekend’s (February 12-13) Summernationals at Sydney Dragway being abandoned due to heavy rain.

It's hard to believe Western Australian Top Fuel driver Martin Stamatis has never led the ANDRA Pro Series, but that all changed with his win at the second round of the series in Perth.

It is mere rumour no more. Sydney Dragway is delighted to announce the overdue return of Drag Racing’s most unpredictable creations – The Australian Nitro Funny Car Gold Cup at the venue on Sunday, July 4!

The inaugural Karcher Tri State Top Doorslammer Shootout will commence as part of qualifying at this weekend’s 2010 Westernationals at the Perth Motorplex.

Former National Doorslammer Champion, Gary Phillips unveiled his refurbished Lucas Oils Studebaker last weekend, stirring a great response from fans and fellow racers alike.

Team Bray Racing and the world of smoky burn outs will take centre stage on the popular Channel Ten children's show Totally Wild this Wednesday at 8.00am.

Former National Champion Gary Phillips has returned to Queensland from a semi final berth at the Westernationals, rating the weekend as a solid advance in the right direction for the Lucas Oils Studebaker Doorslammer.

Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) Pro Series Top Doorslammer championship leader, Robin Judd, will be out to break a nine-year drought at this weekend’s 39th annual Westernationals at Perth Motorplex, Kwinana Beach.

Judd may have a handy championship series points lead and has won the last two series events, the Australian Nationals in Sydney and Goldenstates, Perth Motorplex – the recent Summernationals in Sydney was abandoned due to rain – however, the Westernationals has proved to be his hoodoo event.

The Perth-based Chartered Accountant has also reach six finals at the past nine events contested, but since the Motorplex opened in 2001, Judd has lost in the first round of eliminations at all Westernationals, except at the 2006 event when he reached the final, only to be runner-up.

This weekend, Judd is looking to break his luckless Westernationals run, win his third-straight event and take a comfortable championship lead with then only two events remaining in the series.
Judd currently leads the Top Doorslammer championship series with 355 points, a 50-point lead over Maurice Fabietti (305pts) and 72 points ahead of defending champion John Zappia (283pts).
While Judd concedes this year’s Westernationals to be the most important event to date in his 10-year drag racing career, his William Buck/K & B Exclusive team will not be under any undue pressure.
“The Westernationals is our (the teams) most important event to date. We must do well if we are going to win the championship.

“Does that create pressure? Yes, there is some pressure, but that pressure is on us (the team). My crew and I have created a standard that we don’t want to see compromised, so a poor performance at the Westernationals will be unacceptable,” Judd said.

With the Westernationals carrying 50 percent bonus points to entice interstate teams to travel to Perth for ANDRA Group One Championship series rounds, is another reason Judd needs a good result in his quest to win the championship.

“We know that we have to perform well. We will be trying our absolute best to win the event. A win would give us a distinct advantage with the 50 percent bonus points on offer.”
While Judd has run Australia’s quickest-ever Doorslammer pass at the Motorplex, a 5.822-seconds, he is confident his William Buck/K & B Exclusive team will have a setup in the ’59 Studebaker to win the event.
“We tested at the Motorplex this week in similar conditions to that forecast for the weekend competition. We had to make some major changes to the car setup to get it down the hot and slippery track. Those changes produced a respectable 6.00-second at 241mph.

“We have had mixed results at the last few events at the Perth Motorplex, some have been good and some not so good. We have done a lot of research on the data recorded from those events. From that information and this week’s testing, we think we have a car setup base-line that will suit the track conditions this weekend.

“For this event it will not be so much to run the quickest time, but to stick to the fundamentals, which are to firstly get in the field (to qualify), hopefully in the top-half, preferably in the number one position and then just take each run as it comes,” Judd said.

Despite the fact rain washed away the Summernationals from Sydney Dragway, we still believe this Sunday’s Top Fuel show on ONE HD – is must see Television!

For the man currently sitting in the number two slot of the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer standings, the return to the West Coast promises to be have an 80’s theme but don’t expect to see hairspray and shoulder pads – it’s all about getting back into the 5.80s for the Holden Trade Club Monaro.

The nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster “Scorcher” is headed back home to Australia. Scorcher which carried the first Australian Ash Marshall to 200mph on 1st February 1969 has spent the last two years in California after undergoing a full restoration in 2008.

Auto One TeamJim Read Racing is ready to take on the country's quickest Top Fuel dragsters this weekend as the ANDRA Pro Series heads to Sydney. The prestigious Summernationals event will see an awesome line-up of nitro action on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th February at Sydney Dragway.

Stuart Bishop and his ’67 Camaro Diamond Doorslammer will take on Robin Judd in round one of the Top Doorslammer eliminations at the Perth Motorplex’s Westernationals this evening after qualifying seventh overnight.

Well what can I say rain, rain, rain, not good. The build up to the race was a busy one for all the Jim Read Racing team as both race cars needed to be serviced after our back to back Perth races. For me personally it was very busy with plans for the media day at Sydney Dragway for the new McDonalds signage at the venue and launching the Junior Dragster Search for a Star Promotion and the Summernationals event at Sydney Dragway would be the first event flying the McDonalds branding on the Auto one sponsored Top Fuel dragster.

Despite the washout of the Summernationals at Sydney Dragway last weekend, plenty of action is set to crank over the next month or so with all featured categories from the event still being showcased on ONE HD.

Team BrayThree months ago, Victor Bray almost equaled his personal best elapsed time of 6.010 at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia. This was the first event for the Team in the 09/10 Nostalgia Drag Racing season, after electing to sit out the first half of the season to focus their efforts on building a second nostalgia drag racing car.

What started out as a small group of racers looking for some extra championship points has developed into a yearly pilgrimage for South Queensland drag bike racers.

The contribution to Australian Top Fuel by Santo Rapisarda over decades has been enormous and as a stirring and emotional tribute to the 20th Anniversary of Louie Rapisarda’s tragic passing, Sydney Dragway would like to announce in conjunction with Santo and his family – a Top Fuel tribute incentive, with $20,000 prizemoney up for grabs.
