The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Drady to its board of directors.

The Nitro Max machines turned on a spectacular night of racing at the Perth Motorplex for the Battle of The Beach event. With five nitro burning animals for the return of the Nitro Max series in Perth it was a mix of funny cars, altereds and FEDs, and it rained five second ETs.

The opening 2024 drag race at Perth Motorplex brought the flame and thunder from Jet Dragsters and nitro match racing plus rounds of the local Top Doorslammer and Nitro Bike championships.

“We eagerly anticipate Brodie’s progression in Supercharged Outlaws. The Zappia family legacy is deeply intertwined with Top Doorslammer, and it’s no secret that Brodie will eventually join me in a dual Doorslammer team. With this, the Zappia name will endure in this category for decades to come,” said John Zappia.

A foggy start to the morning gave way to a second day of clear skies and perfect racing conditions at South Coast Raceway. More than 120 Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship competitors made the most of the continuing brilliant conditions to put on a thrilling show at the South Coast Rumble event, part of the championship’s Western Conference.

Picture perfect conditions have greeted more than 120 Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship competitors as they took to the track for three rounds of qualifying at South Coast Raceway today.

In a strong return to form, Phil Lamattina piloted the FUCHS Lubricants Top Fuel Dragster to a B-Final win at the Saltwood @ Rosedale Australia Day Nationals at Sydney Dragway and recorded the quickest elapsed time of the event with a 3.818.

Racers from all over will descend on South Coast Raceway this Saturday and Sunday (February 3/4) for the latest round of the NDRC’s Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship – the South Coast Rumble.

The Saltwood @ Rosedale Australia Day Nationals was set to host two rounds of championship racing for Top Fuel at Sydney Dragway this weekend (January 26/27), however only one has been completed with no racing held on day two due to wet weather.

There was no better place to celebrate Australia Day today than at Sydney Dragway for day one of the Saltwood @ Rosedale Australia Day Nationals.
The action-packed show was headlined by no end of spectacular drag racing performances from the 11,000hp/500kph Top Fuel racers who across their field delivered 12 three-second passes with four of those at 500kph+, and two side-by-side three performances.

The 2023 racing year at the Perth Motorplex was closed out by their Summer Slam event featuring the local Top Doorslammer and Top Bike championships plus the full allotment of sportsman track championship categories.

A special gathering on January 20 at Peter Leahy Custom Imports commemorated 15 years since the passing of drag racing icon Roly Leahy. In attendance also was Jim and Elaine Walton who were also honoured with a surprise of their lives.

Dave Todd raced through for the NDRC Christmas Tree Trophy at South Coast 660 and is now gearing up with his 800hp 1978 Gemini to take on South Coast Raceway’s South Coast Rumble as part of a great entry list next weekend (February 3-4).

This Friday and Saturday (January 26 and 27), PremiAir Racing will do all it can to open its 2024 in the best way possible – by taking home event-winning NDRC Christmas Tree trophies –at Sydney Dragway’s Australia Day Nationals.

Six new ANDRA national records have been recorded between the recent South Coast 660 and Festival State Nationals events, held at South Coast Raceway (January 6-7) and Dragway at The Bend (January 13-14) respectively.

Following an investigation into the Top Doorslammer final at yesterday’s Festival State Nationals at Dragway at The Bend, it has been determined that John Zappia committed a breach of the rules that had been originally flagged by an event official at the time, with a crew person touching the car whilst Zappia was fully staged.

Race fans have delighted in all that the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) has to offer with epic performances from Nitro Funny Cars, Top Doorslammers, Top Fuel Motorcycles and the Aeroflow National Sportsman Series ensuring the 20,000+ strong crowd on-track and the many watching live on 7plus were captivated from start to finish.

Five 11,000hp Nitro Funny Cars have ensured their debut at Dragway at The Bend will not soon be forgotten, laying down a number of lightning fast, flame-throwing passes to delight the large and super enthusiastic crowd.

Rachelle Splatt is taking on a new drag racing challenge as she makes a return to drag racing in an all-female collaboration. The formation of the Center Steer Motorsport team will feature Splatt returning to racing in a sportsman role and joined by mother and daughter duo Sarah Roderick and Ashleigh Pinkstone from Roderick Family Racing.

The NDRC Top Doorslammer Championship will feature yet another newcomer this season as the class and new national series continues to create more exposure for racers.

After a long hard fought season, the 2023 NSW Track Championship season came to a close late last year with new local sportsman champions crowned.

South Australia’s January is about to get even hotter with the Festival State Nationals to deliver the first ever Nitro Funny Car show at the new venue as well as intense championship racing for Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle, and the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship Series.
