John Zappia was able to blast back into the 5.70s and take a runner-up in Top Comp during testing at the Nitro Max event at Perth Motorplex on Saturday.

The South Coast Nationals at Portland’s South Coast Raceway has hosted an impressive showcase of competitive performances from the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series racers this weekend.

The latest round of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series for the 2021/2022 season is off to a great start at Portland’s South Coast Raceway.

The last time Steve Norman competed in the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series at South Coast Raceway, he clean-swept Super Comp at the 2021 South Coast 660 event – taking out the Decoglaze Glass Splashbacks Top Qualifier Medallion, the winning ANDRA Christmas Tree Trophy, and a national record.

At the recent Goldenstates event, Wayne McGuinness and his Blattt Racing Top Fuel Motorcycle team were recognised with the coveted Vinyl Wraps and Graphics Best Presented Award.

The last time the South Coast Nationals at South Coast Raceway were run back in 2019, brothers Zack and Dylan Knezevic dominated the Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster bracket.

At the weekend’s Goldenstates event, Steve Martin and his son Jett Martin proudly held aloft ANDRA Christmas Trees after taking victory in the Competition and Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster brackets respectively. With his victory, Jett also claimed the Anita Board Memorial Trophy.

Ricky Wood may have lost the opportunity to make the most of his Top Fuel Motorcycle finals berth at the weekend’s Goldenstates, but that doesn’t mean the weekend wasn’t a successful one for the North Yunderup racer.

Phill Paton made his come-back to Competition Bike after almost two years away at the weekend’s Goldenstates at the Perth Motorplex – and he did so in record-breaking style.
