Australia’s biggest nitro-fuelled event will deliver a show “well worth the wait” when the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs is held across new dates of May 17-19.

Self-dubbed as the ‘Rapa-Slayer,’ two-time champ Phil Lamattina is heading into the upcoming Top Fuel double header at the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs with plenty of swagger and some healthy confidence as he looks to continue his recent event-winning momentum.

There are moments in sport, and then there are moments in sport, and the final in Top Fuel at The Bend was one of those in what has been heralded by many and the greatest Top Fuel show in Australian history.

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing may have raced through for a B-Final victory and a new Personal Best ET at the weekend’s Riverbend Nationals at Dragway at The Bend, but according to the team, Top Fuel was the clear winner at what was another packed-out event at the state-of-the-art South Australian facility.

A new quickest and fastest Top Fuel ET and MPH record for Australia and outside the US and the fourth Top Fuel winner from as many events were the order of the day for the third and final day of the Riverbend Nationals as part of the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) at Dragway at the Bend this weekend.

With four more rounds of the NDRC Top Fuel Championship set to run, last-event winner Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is preparing to give the championship chase a ‘tune-up’ – starting with this weekend’s Riverbend Nationals at Dragway at The Bend (April 5-7).

Defending champions Rapisarda Autosport International have been the ones to beat in the NDRC Top Fuel Championship of late, but a horror Westernationals Sunday now sees the team racing against time to get both of its drivers back on-track for the upcoming Riverbend Nationals at Dragway at The Bend (April 6-7).

Lamattina Top Fuel Racing secured their best result of the season with a runner-up finish at the 53rd annual Westernationals in Perth. The steady improvement in performance from the team over the season has seen Phil Lamattina now bolt to second place in the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) for Top Fuel.

Eleven three second passes, three side-by-side, four of those at more than 500kph including two at more than 510kph – Top Fuel well and truly put on a show for a packed house at the Perth Motorplex across the 53rd MacTrack Westernationals as part of the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) this weekend.

A blistering 500kmh pass by Top Fuel’s Wayne Newby headlined an awesome day one of the MacTrack Westernationals, with Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle and the Aeroflow National Sportsman Series delighting a packed crowd of nearly 9,000 at the Perth Motorplex today.
