Mark Chapman’s campaign at round two of the ADRC Top Doorslammer Championship came to a premature end at Alice Springs Inland Dragway earlier this month, but he is already hard at work to ensure he is ready to make his comeback at the earliest opportunity.

Drag racers must be adaptable in order to succeed, and John Zappia certainly had to stay on his toes as weather conditions and schedule changes at the Red CentreNATS at Alice Springs Inland Dragway put his team to the test.

The Red CentreNATS brought the biggest drag racing show ever to Alice Springs Inland Dragway across September 2-4, hosting the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, the ADRC Top Doorslammers and over 100 Heavy Hitter racers, as well as grudge runs and competition for the RCN Grand Champion.

The biggest drag racing show Alice Springs has ever seen wowed race fans with a huge one-day program on Friday 2 September before unseasonably cold conditions saw the action draw to a premature close late in the evening with the finals for the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and the ADRC Top Doorslammers postponed to future events.

West Australian racer Kelvin Lyle has his eye on victory this week as he heads to Alice Springs Inland Dragway for round two of the ADRC Top Doorslammer championship as part of Red CentreNATS.

The new Australian Top Doorslammer Championship is merely one event old, but already expectations have been flipped as title holders struggle in the face of new challengers to the crown.

This Thursday and Friday (September 1/2) the largest drag racing event ever seen in Alice Springs will descend on Alice Springs Inland Dragway (ASID) to kick off the Red CentreNATS festival.

Competing in a field of superstar names within the doorslammer ranks, it can be forgiven that Geoff Gradden’s achievements could go unheralded.

The first event of the brand new Australian Top Doorslammer Championship saw racing taking place in front of tens of thousands of spectators, as a cooperative effort with the Australian Top Fuel Championship, Supercars and Australian Superbikes delivered a motorsports festival unlike any other.
