“Dragwell by name, drag very well by reputation” will be the motto of 19 year old Rhiannon Allison as she launches into the extreme world of jet dragsters this Sunday, December 28 at Perth Motorplex for Jet Car Max.

Carrying a brand new Dodson Motorsport scheme on his Toyota Celica, New Zealand’s Rod Harvey hired out Willowbank Raceway recently for a night test session to take a crack at the five second pass his team has been chasing.

Rotary powered race cars always seem to traverse that fine edge to disaster with massive horsepower in something not much longer than a bath tub, such was the case at the last Full Thottle Friday of Sydney Dragway’s season with two racers stepping over that edge.

The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) wishes to announce the ANDRA Championship Drag Racing event at Calder Park in Victoria featuring Top Fuel, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle and the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series on February 7-8, 2015 will not go ahead as planned.

Rhiannon Allison is officially a licensed jet dragster driver, completing her training this week at Perth Motorplex ahead of Jet Car Max on December 28. Allison is no stranger to dragster driving, having competed in Supercharged Outlaws, but this was her first time with jet propulsion. “Thanks to the team, ANDRA and the track safety crew for all your hard work over the last few weeks,” she said via Facebook. “Big thanks to Chuck (Haynes) for being a great mentor, Gary (Miocevich) for giving me this opportunity and Mum and Dad for all your support and staying calm. Now let’s go put on a show for the West Aussies!” Allison will be taking on American Haynes and South African Pieter De Wit in just over a week’s time. Image courtesy The Shed. {fcomment}
