Former U.S. Nationals Funny Car winner Gary Burgin died May 23. The driver of the Orange Baron Funny Car, who began his career in the A/Gas Supercharged ranks and famously bragged to have never driven anything on the quarter-mile that didn’t have a supercharger atop the engine, won two NHRA national events and finished in the top 10 five times in his career.

Reigning and seven times back to back Top Doorslammer Champion John Zappia is on his way to Willowbank Queensland, Australia for the biggest drag racing event outside of North America – the 2015 Fuchs Winternationals. The event is the final round of the short 2015 ANDRA Top Doorslammer Championship, and Zappia is fully prepared to race.

Reigning back-to-back Australian Super Gas Champion Matt Forbes is so determined to take out the southern hemisphere’s biggest drag racing event, Willowbank Raceway’s Winternationals, that he’ll contest two categories to get it done.

The Fuchs Winternationals (4-7 June) will host the comeback of three-time national champion Ben Bray, following a headline-making incident at the same event twelve months ago.

Mariani Family Motorsports are competing at this year’s Fuchs Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway with the Make-A-Wish Top Fuel Dragster.

The Fuchs Winternationals will play host to American drag racing star Cory ‘Cory Mac’ McClenathan when it hits Willowbank Raceway next week (4-7 June), with the two-time NHRA champion confirmed today amongst the event’s 10-strong Top Fuel line-up.

Coming off a stellar performance at the Queensland Drag Racing Championships at Willowbank Raceway, the Bellert Racing Team are set to turn heads at the Fuchs Winternationals with three dragsters in two different Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series brackets.

Grant O’Rourke was involved in a head-on road accident this morning in Darwin and had to be taken to hospital for observation. The team’s Facebook page reported the news, explaining that it was a serious crash with the other car coming into Grant’s lane, resulting in the head-on impact. He is currently in Darwin Hospital for observation only and is expected to be released within the next day or so. The team thanks everyone for their messages and well wishes.
