Drag News Magazine is a new initiative from the team at dragnews.com.au to provide an e-magazine for the sport of drag racing in Australia. This first issue is what we are calling a ‘pilot issue’, basically so we can test the response of the Australian drag racing community and see if we could make something that you would like to read – pretty simple really! This first issue features Australian Nationals event coverage including a bunch of sidebars getting the stories from behind the scenes, an interview with Richard Crampton, Renee Cockerill’s first time funny car experience and lots, lots more. As this pilot issue has been in development for the last three months the content is a little longer in the tooth than we would have liked and this is something our future issues will rectify. The second issue will be due out in December and will be available for $3.90. It will use a slightly different viewing software that incorporates automated payment so that as soon as you put in your details you will have access. Please note you must be a registered member of dragnews.com.au in order to view. To view the first issue click here. If you are not a member you can register here.
The first issue of Drag News Magazine is now ready to view.
Rapisarda Autosport International pilot Dom Lagana led all the way to crush Al –Anabi gun Khalid alBalooshi in first round then fell to 2012 NHRA champ Antron Brown after smoking the tyres in the quarter final of Top Fuel at the Southern California Automobile Club Finals in Pomona.
Earning the No. 1 qualifying position for the NHRA Finals on Saturday was a fitting cap to an astounding rookie season for GEICO/Lucas Oil driver Richie Crampton.
The Rapisarda Autosport International/ Dom Lagana combo ran their quickest pass since joining the NHRA tour in 2010, a breathtaking run of 3.76/520kmh to nail down tenth spot as part of the quickest Top Fuel field ever assembled in the 63 year history of drag racing.
Rapisarda Autosport International has landed in 17th place at the end of a frustrating first day of qualifying at the NHRA Auto Club Finals at Pomona Raceway.
The numbers prove why Pro Stock driver Aaron Tremayne is regarded as one of the best drivers in Australian drag racing.
At the final round of the 2014 Queensland Drag Racing Championships (QDRC) at Willowbank Raceway this Saturday (15 November), Ipswich brothers Paul and Darren Doeblien will go head to head for the Powercruise Super Sedan championship with the pair currently tied on points.
Rapisarda Autosport International have yet to confirm plans to unleash Gus Ussia- Presley at the final round of the 2014 Mello Yello NHRA season at Pomona this weekend. “Gus/Elvis” became a cult figure in the world of drag racing after making his push back debut on the Allan Dobson car at the Australian Nationals earlier this month. “The plan to channel Elvis has been at the back of my mind for sometime and our team owner Santo was happy for me to unleash my inner Elvis,” explained Ussia. “My favorite fabrics are cashmere, alpaca and silk but after wearing the Elvis suit in Sydney I have added polyester to the list. It clings to your body and when it gets hot it feels like a second skin.” “This weekend there are several hurdles to overcome before “Aussie” Elvis makes his rookie American appearance. We need to run it past our driver Dom Lagana. That shouldn’t be an issue; he is a real fan of The King and has lots of Elvis songs on his iPod. I’m looking forward to working with Dom on the playlist for the weekend.” The meeting reunites RAI with Dom Lagana one of the most talented and under rated drivers in the Top Fuel ranks. In his first outing with the team at the Mac Tools US Nationals in September Lagana qualified eighth, defeated category ace Doug Kalitta then lost to seven-time champ Tony Schumacher. “I don’t want to put pressure on the team,” said Santo Rapisarda. “There are 21 entries and being the last meeting of the 2014 season every team will want to finish the season on a high note. It’s important we do well and that starts from the first round of qualifying on Friday afternoon.” {fcomment}
Mopar factory-supported ANDRA drag racing star Lee Bektash has smashed all records en route to a dominating performance Australian Nationals event held at Sydney Dragway on November 1/2.
Now seven time straight Australian ANDRA Top Doorslammer Champion John Zappia wrapped up his 2013-2014 season in Sydney at the Australian Nationals with a less than desirable finish, but put on a great show for the crowd with his wild drives on a tight and tricky track.
