Another season at Hidden Valley Dragstrip has come to a close with the running of the grand final for their track championship.
Round five of the Queensland Drag Racing Championship ran relatively smoothly to completion as the series heads for the finish line when a new batch of Willowbank Raceway Track Champions will be crowned.
Round one of the 2021/2022 Whyalla Steel City Drags Club Championship got off to a successful start on Saturday 11 September.

Over the weekend Willowbank Raceway, racers and fans paid tribute to the late Queensland drag racing identity John ‘Stomper’ Winterburn with a fun filled festival like day at the venue.
Springmount Raceway recently held their inaugural Grudge Masters to spice up racing with a different style of event for the Far North Queensland venue. With plenty of cash on offer, racers had a chance to go head to head in a grudge-style event on a pro tree.

With much of the country struggling to negotiate lockdowns to hold drag racing right now, Hidden Valley bagged their NT Titles event which made up round three of the local track championship.
The latest round of the Queensland Drag Racing Championships at Willowbank Raceway was effectively a rescheduled round of the wash out in round two. With perfect weather on offer, it looked like a perfect day’s racing was ahead, that was until the Queensland Government dropped a COVID-19 related bomb on the event, announcing a strict lockdown would be enforced from 4pm that afternoon.
John Zappia has fired back in the Australian Drag Racing Championship with a Desert Nationals win at Alice Springs Inland Dragway on Sunday.
Western Australia’s Zappia defeated the Northern Territory’s Matt Abel in the final round, 5.853 to 5.960, and took over the lead of the Top Doorslammer points.
