January 2020 was the last time professional drag racing fired a shot in anger in Australia, as the 2021 Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder event restarted the longest championship series in history. The event was the penultimate round of the 400 Thunder championship for all brackets ahead of next month’s Winternationals and Mother Nature wasn’t going to let drag racing off easy with its comeback.
Gulf Western Oil Nitro Thunder has roared into life at Sydney Dragway as the venue celebrated it’s re-opening after a 14-month championship break from professional level racing.
The popular Kenda Tires 660 Drag Radial Series has turned into a real radial racing showcase in Australia and each event out does the previous in improvements and innovations as the scene head on a steep upward trajectory. Testimony to this is amount of investment dollars being thrown into the scene to compete by racers right now, with some phenomenal machinery now on track and coming in the future
