Over the weekend Willowbank Raceway, racers and fans paid tribute to the late Queensland drag racing identity John ‘Stomper’ Winterburn with a fun filled festival like day at the venue.
Springmount Raceway recently held their inaugural Grudge Masters to spice up racing with a different style of event for the Far North Queensland venue. With plenty of cash on offer, racers had a chance to go head to head in a grudge-style event on a pro tree.
Willowbank Raceway bagged round four of the Queensland Drag Racing Championship pleasantly without the interruptions from weather and COVID matters as the series reaches the half way point.
With much of the country struggling to negotiate lockdowns to hold drag racing right now, Hidden Valley bagged their NT Titles event which made up round three of the local track championship.
The latest round of the Queensland Drag Racing Championships at Willowbank Raceway was effectively a rescheduled round of the wash out in round two. With perfect weather on offer, it looked like a perfect day’s racing was ahead, that was until the Queensland Government dropped a COVID-19 related bomb on the event, announcing a strict lockdown would be enforced from 4pm that afternoon.
The first round of Heathcote Park Raceway’s inaugural VIC/SA Sportsman Series was unfortunately struck down by tricky weather conditions and unable to be run to its completion, but we still have a few photos of the action to show you.

A lot has changed in the first six months at Heathcote Park Raceway since new owner Lance Warren took over. The venue continues to see improvements on a weekly basis as it is brought back to modern standards.
