Sydney Dragway – Letter from the Chairman

Following on from a meeting held between ANDRA, Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway, talks have resulted in a way forward to ensure the current Championship series stays alive for 2012 and ANDRA is given every chance to succeed in remodelling the sport to ensure a strong 2013 and beyond for Championship Drag Racing. It was announced today ANDRA, Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway will introduce a graduated prizemoney scale which will be used at events for the remainder of the 2011/2012 ANDRA Championship calendar, securing viability at the events and making sure the tracks can afford to continually run them.

Puglia to compete against the best

WA drag racer Allen Puglia will get a chance to put his skills to the test against the best drivers in the nation when the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) Pro Series hits Perth Motorplex on March 3 and 4.

Scale brought in for select events

Following a full day conference with all major tracks, ANDRA, who has taken on the full responsibility of the management, marketing and funding of championship drag racing, has resolved to request the tracks to run the events on a graduated prizemoney scale up until the time sponsorship becomes available to fund the series. The entire prize money system will then be reviewed for the 2013 season.

Testing Times – Adelaide

A beautiful sunny day greeted racers at Adelaide International Raceway for the Morpowa Super Sunday 1/8th Mile event in February. This was the first of the planned ANDRA sanctioned Street Meets held by Rino D’ Alfonso of Racing Onn Promotions which hopefully will be a regular occurrence.

Zappia wins Slamfest Round In Tasmania

Pro Modified Australia’s Slamfest eigth mile racing visited Launceston last weekend at the Tasmanian Drag Racers Association’s Tarmac Dragway, and the good sized crowd of just under 5,000 witnessed some exciting and close Top Doorslammer action.
